Blanco or Pedernales Falls Park for a day?

Which park would be the best for a day trip with daughter? Interested in swimming, little hiking and some pretty scenic landscape? Thanks

Pedernales Falls Park, though there is not a darn thing wrong with Blanco. Just feel there is more to see and explore at Pedernales and I think the swimming is better. If you haven't been there, the Falls are something to see. Struck me as very odd terrain the first time I saw it.

Hope you have a great trip!

The one pit fall with swimming at Perdenales is the walk down the hill to the river.
I agree it is a pretty spot. A little scrub brushy for me.
I like swimming better at Blanco myself.

If your daughter is young or either of you are not up to a "real hike", Blanco is good. It's easy to get in and out of the swimming areas and the terrain is easy going. One swimming area is even "walled off" in the river, so you don't worry about floats (or kids) floating off too far. There is also a cool bat house and you can watch them leave at dusk, the check in hut can give you a map and tell you where the bat house is.

Pedernales is beautiful and the falls are great, but the hike down to the swimming area was not as easy for my young grandkids. We go to Pedernales when we feel like real hikes and Blanco when we just to have fun, relax, and "lollygag".

thanks everyone for the feedback..........we ended at pedernales and it rained like crazy the whole day. Even with the rain, it was so pretty we stayed.. waded in the water under a tree. The falls were great.
