Bergheim Campground

On Saturday the family and I decided to check out a new place we had stumbled across purely on accident. The Bergheim Campground. This is on the Guadalupe River about 15 miles upstream from Guadalupe River SP. We arrived Saturday about 12 to check it out for the day.

The campground is small, but well laid out. The owner is a nice older man who is happy to answer any questions. They have full RV hookups and several tent campsites (all primitive). He does have a handful on the river, but all are within walking distance. We were by ourselves most of the day, and when we left at around 5, there were only four other cars there enjoying the river. (about 15 people).

The BG seems to be a popular place to put into the river and float down to either GRSP, or for the more adventurous, Highway 281. He rents tubes, kayaks and canoes and will pick you up at GRSP.

If you just want to swim and picnic there at the campground, it is only $5 per person, and if you want to pitch your tent and camp overnight, it is only $15 per night, and $3 per person.

Here is his brochure and pricelist

A nice place, especially if you want to escape the crowds at GRSP. We will definitely be back.

The water is a little low, but not too bad. Here is a picture I took of the river:
