Re: Anyone camping Labor Day??

We will be at Lake Brownwood SP for that extended weekend. Planning on making the drive down to Brady from there and check out the goat bar b que cookoff. Kids are all grown and the bride and I like to check out festivals and the like when we can. Never been to this cook off so thought we would go and see what is happening in the "center" of the lone star state.

We may be heading over to Buescher State Park. We were there last year, it was fantastic, not crowded at all, good fishing on the lake, great times!

We will be camping at Beaver's Bend in Oklahoma. This is our annual Labor Day weekend there. It is beautiful.

I'll be on my couch in the air conditioning. No camping for us that weekend!

Actually our town's fireworks were rescheduled to that weekend since we were rained out this year, so I will venture out of doors for a short while anyways.

Have fun!

Re: Anyone camping Labor Day??

We won't be camping for Labor Day, but a week or two after that we will be "camping" at Buescher State Park. It'll be our first camping trip with Sara, who just turned 5 months old yesterday. We were going to stay at Bastrop but the cabin(s) we were interested in were already booked, so we went with Buescher as a backup. Right next door, literally, so no biggie.

If leaving on Labor day after every one heads home counts We are trying Lake Bob Sandlin State Park and then on to Lake Ouachita State Park in Arkansas. Will report on both.

Re: Anyone camping Labor Day??

At Thanksgiving, I think so but there were a few hearty souls having a blast from the rope swing. Spring break... it really just depends. There has been tmes when most definelty I was not getting in the water but other times it has been really nice, albeit quite refreshing. You just go and take your chances. Of course, really great sunshiney weather helps take the chill off! There's plenty to do and see even if you don't "do" the river, though.

Yes, the Frio is aptly named..."frio" is spanish for "cold". But I dare say it is the prettiest river in Texas!
