Re: Alligators @ Calaveras Lake?

It's the right side of town but the wrong lake. There are alligators at Mitchell Lake Sanctuary, not that far from Calaveras and Braunig (but further than the gators would/could travel.) Mitchell Lake is a protected sanctuary with no fishing, boating, etc.

Re: Alligators @ Calaveras Lake?

Couple years ago there were rumors of gators in Braunig. This was from CPS Energy employees driving between Braunig and Calaveras. There's a an area between the two that looks like a gator heaven. The area is as far from the park area as you could passibly get. I never heard first hand from someone "I saw one", but I wouldn't doubt they're there. I wouldn't be concerned about the alligators in either lake.

There are for sure alligators in Choke Canyon as big as the boats people are fishing from and you don't hear any horror stories from there. People know they're there, respect them, and give them room.

Then I guess it would be safe to wade fish?
