Question Adventure in teaspoon helpings

Hi Everyone,
I'm hoping to get a few thoughts on fun places to camp within an hour or two of San Antonio. We went to Garner for our first camping trip and enjoyed it but would like to explore other places.

We are new to outdoor adventures so I like being close to things like bathrooms/showers/running water.

I'd love to find a place with swimming. We like to hike on easy trails.
We have 2 kids, age 9 & 11 and do the tent thing.

Also, what do you think of 20-40% chance of rain? Would you take the chance or wait another weekend?

Thanks!

Re: Adventure in teaspoon helpings

Welcome aboard and I hope we can help. For your next trip I'd suggest either Guadalupe River SP or Blanco SP. Both have good swimming with Guadalupe having better hiking opportunities. Here's a review of each park that may help you decide:

I had a review that gave a bit more detail about Guadalupe Park itself but I don't believe the archives go back that far. Will have to see if I can find it else where.

FOUND IT! Pulled it out of the archives over at RV.NET. Should help a bit.

As far as the rain goes, it would depend on how I was camping and how badly I wanted to go. I never liked the clean up after the tents got wet. One of the big reasons we're pulling that "5th" in my avator.

Hope this helps and,

Happy Camping!

Always go for it unless something bad acually drives you off. If you let potentially bad things stop you, you'll never get out. I've had some of the best times camping when a little rain or the chance of rain scared the crowds away.
