Have Fun
...and it has been a heck of a month! Started with me ending up in the hospital for 3 days! They thought I was having a stroke and I might have if it had gone much further. Turned out that I was having some BP problems that I was not aware of. The did a whole battery of tests on me and that is all that they could come up with. Everything else is fine and they're not even sure why my BP spiked the way it did. They added a BP med to my usual dose of pills and I now have a BP machine and I'm keeping close tabs on it. It has come way down in the last 4 weeks and it looks like it will stay there. I see my GP Wednesday and he thinks he will take me off the BP med for a while and see what happens. As long as I can watch it day to day, there should be no risk. Will just go back on the meds if it starts to spike again. The ONLY thing any of the doctors have been able to decide on is that I'm just getting OLDER! Noooo kiddin'!!! Ya' think??? There is one good thing to come out of all this. The last 4 weeks, I've felt better and had more energy then I've had over the last 6 months or so. Guess this has been slowly building.
Went to Inks Lake SP down in the Texas Hill Country for a week. We were there with 2 other couples and had an outstanding time! Nothig real speciel, just a lot of good times together. Would do it again in a heart beat! Inks is about the same as always except for the replacement of a few of the old bath houses. The new ones are very nice and a needed improvement to the park. Also, four of us have gotten together and started planning an extended trip for summer, 2011. Looking at a three week trip to cover Glacier and Yellowstone Nation Parks and a return to the Rushmore area. This will be a LOOOONG pull !
After getting out of the hospital, this silly box I type on decided to "go south" on me. Couldn't figure out what was wrong so I gave it to a friend who does IT for Ft. Worth ISD. After doing whatever voo-doo they do with these things, he told me he had good and bad news. Being a tough old f**t, I said "Give me the bad news first". He said the hard drive was fried. I asked what the good news was and he told me that the computer was STILL under warranty and would be through most of next year!!! Long story short, DW got on the phone with Dell Support last Monday and after some testing, their tech agreed and said that we'd hear from one of their techs within 48 hours. By Tuesday, 10AM, their tech had been to the house and installed a new hard drive. By 11AM the computer had finished all of its automatic set up and we were up and running again. Great service from Dell and when the time comes, you can bet I'll be going to them for our next PC. PS: Back-up, back-up, BACK-UP!!! Becuase we do, we lost nothing of any importance.
Last of all, our youngest (if you can call 33 "young" ) was married Saturday. DW's head was spinning the last 2 weeks and to be honest, I'm glad it is over. Seems like all the women involved in any wedding tend to panic the closer the big day gets. Oh well. I just tried to keep DW calmed down and do what I could to help. All survived, including me!
Well, I just wanted to let my friends here know that I'm still breathing and am on "this side of the turf". Will continue to check in and add my 2-cents when it seems fitting. Until then and always,
Happy Camping!

TK, being sick is no fun at all. Glad they got a handle on the BP and you are back to your OLD self again!
Planning that big trip with your friends must have kept ya'll busy for hours figuring where to go and for how long. Can I stow away in your rig somewhere? I want to see Glacier and Yellowstone too.....
Good to hear from you and keep following the Doc's advice.
Charcoal is a spice, dirt is a condiment, and there is no 3 second rule.
Saw my GP today, as scheduled. He is pleased at my progress and with my BP. Gave me another script for 3 more months of the BP med I'm taking and wants to see me again when I finish that. Will keep doing what I'm doing and keep an eye on my BP but I think I've got a handle on this one.

Turn Key,
Welcome back. I always enjoy the musings and I go along on your trips vicariously. Didin't you ever miss the extra food missing? Good news on the BP too. It is a small thing to take a pill to stay healthy. We have had some in-law health issues lately so our travels have be have been limited to the farm in the country since April 1. We slipped away for a quick trip to Fredericksburg area during Easter and enjoyed it a lot except for the worry about health issues back home. All is much better and will enjoy our planned trip to the Frio in June to spend time with our kids and grandkids and celebrate our 37th year together. ......and they said it wouldn't last. Glad your back.
Sandy
