You HAVE to hike to Mills Lake when you are there. I have that as a screen saver at work and everyone asks if it is real. I tell them yes, and it takes 2 hours to hike there. I ate a PB and J from a rock along the shore! After seeing Yellowstone and Grand Tetons, I think I would return to Rocky again. Is it wrong to speak about preferring any park over Yellowstone? If it is, I am sorry. Rocky is just so beautiful and you could take a life time to hike it, (with fewer bears).

You're so right about RMNP. And it's so much easier to get to. There's not as much wildlife to be viewed here as Yellowstone but the scenery is so spectacular.
Was your avatar photo taken at Emerald Lake? It looks familiar.

Justin and I are trying to plan another "big trip" and are considering a return to Rocky Mountain NP. We both adore it, of course, and our last trip there was when I was still pregnant with kidlet Sara.

Sorry things are so slow here. I'm sure my general lack of activity here has a lot to do with that. I'll try to do better. Lots of plates in the air...

Based on Campermom's photos, your chances of spotting a moose on the west side of the park are pretty good.
You'll also notice that there are more dead trees on that side.....the beetle kill is worse over there.

Thumbs up Re: Things are so slow

We made it back drove right around the tropical storms left over rains. It was wet but an ok drive

Did manage a second tire blow out on the trailer, this time right as we got to where we park the trailer

Getting two new tires tomorrow and if your counting thats four! I do say steal belted radials do blow up odly when they go, but we never lost control of the trailer.

Now as to RMNP (Rocky Mountain National Park), this is a beautiful park, even better when you have 1 rain in 4 days and it lasted maybe 20 minutes.

As to comparing to Glacier National Park, I can't really say one is beter or worse. Glacier's Going to the Sun Road is one of a kind. But the Old Fall River Road, although rough, has some real beautiful spots.

Saw much more big game animals (Elk, Moose, Deer) at RMNP, saw more sheep and mountain goats at Glacier.

Both have flowers, valleys and hikes to falls, both parks are very big and take at least 4 days if possible to see the hightlights, more for back country.

All I can say is go see both !! My two favorite lake hikes at RMNP
