So many shades of green

Coming in from Iowa throught southern Wiscosin on Highway 11 we saw so many wonderful shades of green, the dark corn, the maize, the soybeans. dark grass, light grass, the lighter hay and so many kinds of trees both evergreen and otherwise. I really wish a picture would suffice, It was remarkable. (I tried but not good)

Wisconsin 11 starts from Dubuque and heads east through towns long forgotten by everyone from the big city, the ones with populations of less than 100 who really deck out for the forth of July. I must say I was impressed about how small town america isn't crying about $4.00 gas. But then again cross town is 1 mile. 11 winds through fields and dairy country, my dd wondered where the cows were until she smelled them
(at 55 they smell nice I told her, anyone who has slept at a farm knows what I mean) 11 wonders through Monroe (anyone who drinks beer knows Berghoff red is from there) and skips Janesville then wonders through the southern part of wisconsin toward Racine. (famous for Johnson WAx)
It is a wonderful early summer drive but not sure about winter

We were reminded why the unofiicial state bird was the mosquito the got lots of good southern blood, but I got some of them too

Re: So many shades of green

Sounds like a nice drive. I love the fall colors but when the green returns it is beautiful; like eveything's new. Haven't ever been that far north. Never thought of mosquitoes being up there. Still not sure why God made the mosquito. Surely whatever eats them could find something else to dine on!
