Hey All,
Please check your smoke detectors to ensure their batteries are fresh and in good, working order. After having our home office smoke detector begin chirping every morning (when the weather’s cold and batteries perform at their poorest), I finally figured out how to get the unit off and replace the battery. After replacing the annoying detector’s battery, I checked all the others and found that 3 of the 4 smoke detectors upstairs in our home, including the one in our master bedroom, were all completely DEAD. I thought we had checked them before, but it’s such an expensive oversight to make, in the event of a fire! So, check those detectors and replace those batteries. If your detector is older than 10 years, think about replacing it, as that’s about the useful life of detectors apparently (per

A good rule of thumb (that I never followed, but am sure to follow after having the sobering reality of 75% of our “protection” in case of fire actually having been nonexistent for who knows how long), is to replace the batteries in your smoke detectors every time you set your clocks for Daylight Savings. I’m sure to follow this in the future…
Just thought I’d pass this along.
