Roadtrip planning query: TX,AR,TN,KY

Hello all,
I've been asked to help plan a summer roadtrip for a coworker, and was curious if anyone knows of a website or application (Google Earth, mapquest, etc..) that will indicate points of interest along a route.

I have a stack of books on Texas, but it's beyond our state line I'm not real familiar with. Looking for attractions such as historical sites, ghost towns, Americana, roadside oddities, and of course parks and natural areas. The coworker also has an interest in places of a spectral/supernatural nature.

The trip will begin in San Antonio and end in Louisville, KY. Will pass through Arkansas and Tennessee along the way.

Thanks for reading and any ideas!

Arkansas has some nice state parks along the way visit the web site.

DeGray is very popular will check on other requests. Both parks near Hot springs are good and Hot Springs National Park is interesting

Map of Arkansas ? Arkansas map ? Arkansas state map

Sounds like a real roadtrip. A lot of miles with a ton to see. I would refer you to Roadside America Roadside America - Guide to Uniquely Odd Tourist Attractions. It will help you find the off beaten attractions like the gravesite of Johnny Appleseed. There is a whole section of sightings of Muffler Men.

Whenever I travel to Kentucky I like to head north on Interstate 55 in Arkansas just before you hit Memphis. Go sixty-six miles into Missouri then east on Interstate 57 twelve miles to US-62. Head east and you will travel over two bridges where the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers converge--you will actually be in Illinois (near Fort Defiance State Park) very briefly.

In Arkansas, Hot Springs is a really neat place to stop and check out (and get a massage). Last time we were there we stayed at Lake Ouachita State Park which is one of the cleanest lakes in America (so they say). Eureka Springs is a neat place to visit, too, but would be rather out of the way headed to Kentucky.
