New Member From Corpus Christi Area
Hello,
We are from the Corpus Christi area and go camping at least once a month. We prefer state parks to the concrete slab "parking lot" style RV resorts, but we have stayed at them also.
"We" consists of my 6 yr old daughter, 10 yr old son, wife, and two dogs.
We camped at Goliad State Park last month, and this month (Nov. 17 - 19) we are going to Lake Texana State Park. On Nov. 18th the Leonid meteor shower will be happening, and the park should be a good place for the kids (and us) to see it:

We are also going to go camping in Dec. for Christmas, but we have not decided where to go yet.
Since the kids are still in school now, we go camping on the weekends and try to go places within 2 hrs away.
Hopefully we can maybe find other families here who we could meet up with and go camping.

Welcome aboard and I hope you enjoy your time here. Pretty good bunch and you should find a bit of info about Texas.
Happy Camping!

Re: New Member From Corpus Christi Area
Hi TX and welcome to the forum. We used to go camping along the coast as often as possible when we lived in the McAllen area. Been to Mustang Island SP and Padre Island NS a number of times -- the latter being one of our favorite places to camp. In fact, the picture to the left is that of our first trip to PINS.
But, alas, we moved to North Texas a year ago and Gulf coast camping is no longer convenient for us. The upside is that we are now within as little as 'minutes' away from the nearest SP or COE park...which makes weekend getaways much easier.

I did check out the Camping Club section, unfortunately it is not very active. There was only one Thread started in the middle of August about a trip planned for the begining of October. No other posts or trips scheduled on the Camping Club calendar.
Maybe it's just because the weather is cold now ?
We go camping once a month regardless of temps, but we also cheat :P ......errr, I mean but we have a Class A with all the heating comforts of home.
I realize that not everybody has that and camping in 50* and lower temps for the whole weekend may not be everyone's idea of fun, especially if they have young children.
Hopefully there will be much more activity when the temps start to warm up again.

I noticed that too. Well, there's one way to change that. Just post the particulars of your upcoming trip and see if anyone is interested in joining up. To me cool weather time is the best time for camping.
To make that steaming mug of hot chocolate while the kiddos roast marshmellows over a campfire.........ain't nuttin' better.

Oh, I love it also. The air is crisp and cool, the sounds of crackling firewood burning, roasting marshmallows, the smell of hot cocoa and S'More's !
I guess I will go post about the trip, maybe there will be some replies.
Thanks again
