Interesting.. I really do miss the old drive-in movies. We had one in Houston, a big 6-screener.

I was thinking this thread was someone sneaking a protable DVD player into their pack!! Cheaters! ...well not really I was thinking the same, of course I don't have one yet, but I've been really good this year and santa is sure to bring me one.

Why stop at a DVD player -- bring a laptop and you can play computer games, catch up on {cough} work, draft your trip reports and review your digital photos while still in the field!

We've done it a time or two (for the photo editing and trip report writing purposes) but it's a hassle and relegates you to car camping -- electronics like computers don't take well to excessive humidity and temperature changes. And I wouldn't dream of playing a DVD or game while camping though sadly I've had to listen to that while camping (as well as a FULL RENDITION of "99 bottles of beer on the wall". I remember telling Justin, at 3 AM as it was occurring, "I've never, ever heard someone sing "99 bottles of beer on the wall" all the way from 1 to 100!") Needless to say, we didn't sleep well that trip. I still need to post a trip report from that outing.

~ROFL! (Rolls on floor Laughing!).. Yes and if I just had satalite-phone/laptop I'd never have to come home. My new address: Four-C trail MILE MARKER 17.25 blue tee-p #2

I'm thinking SOLAR power would be nice to bring out, they have some low end panels that can charge phones, and rechargable batteries. hehe!

That's exactly why I got into backpacking. You walk a mile down the trail with your camp on your back and you leave Joe Smoe and his boom box behind. Of course, that 'ol screech owl might keep you awake. Or maybe that cantankerous field mouse might get the munchies right outside your tent.
