Long time Texans, help me out here

Heya Folks,
I've been off doing RealLife (tm) things but I hadda pop in and ask a question of y'all. While chatting with some friends last week, I recalled a place we used to go visit regulary when I was a kid and my curiosity has the best of me now.

We used to go to a place I only remember as "Red Arrow" where we used to camp in a pop-up camper... it would have been semi-near Houston, probably no more than 3-4 hours away, MAX. I recall very little about it but I was wondering if this rings a bell with any of you? I know it had a place to swim, fish, and I vaguely recall a basketball court. For some reason, a cruddy common room with 2 beat-up pinball machines also sticks out in my head. Bear in mind, I haven't set foot there since 1975-76ish.

Anyone care to take a guess?

Ed, I've never been there but I believe the place you're talking about is now named Chain O Lakes, just east of Romayor which is NE of Cleveland off of US 59. A work buddy of mine used to take his family camping there every summer and they loved it. He even brought me a brochure on the place but we never made it up there. I think it even has screened in shelters now, some of them very nice. Perhaps someone else can elaborate more.

Re: Long time Texans, help me out here

For some reason I tied "Red Arrow" with Chain-O-Lakes, but I wasn't for sure so I didn't say anything. But I have been there quite a few times. Mostly when I was younger, but once a few years ago. They have a really nice place! You can even rent log cabins or large mobile homes for a weekend - and they are pretty nice.

I didn't explore the place at all the last time I went, but what I saw was really nice. From what I can remember as a kid, the place used to almost be a water amusment park built into the lakes. Nothing spectacular, just some slides and zip lines and stuff. Seemed pretty awesome as a kid though! And I remember it having some really cool places to camp.

This is the link to their website:

 Actually, that is a really nice website too!! And it seems like a cool place to go and explore! All kinds of activities.
