I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for their participation in the Wild Texas Forums. We just broke the ** 1,000 posts *** mark this morning! :eek: :ribbit:

I'm especially excited at all the group trip planning and trip report sharing that's been going on lately -- very cool! :yes:

So, keep up the great work, gang! And holler if you need anything...

Technically, we broke 1,000 posts awhile ago, since our post count is #1205 total posts... but some of those are PMs (private messages) or administrative posts, not public discussions. 1,000+ public posts is worth kudos to everyone here, IMHO!

Used to be days between post. Now if you don't check daily you can miss things. Congratulations Shannon. Think ahead to the millionth post. Maybe you can give away a free car or something? Or maybe we can pass the hat and get you one!

You're being kind... we'd go weeks between posts, "back in the day."

One millionth message, eh? I do like the sound of that! We'll get there, one post at a time. Car? Right now, it'd be a Matchbox <tm> car -- maybe a dune buggy or jeep.

In the forums, I liken myself to a bartender -- I swap stories and info just like the next person, and help keep the "spirits" flowing (or put a cork on 'em on the exceptionally rare occasions it's necessary), but otherwise my job is to stay out of the way and let things develop on their own.

So far, so good!

And all this talk of hiking and backpacking trips lately is providing the impetus I need to wrap up some other projects and get the heck back outdoors! My new boots and tent are screaming for some action... even if the weather can't figure out what it's doing.
