I need some suggestions please

Hello. I am a grandmother who wants my grandson to experience & love the outdoors. Can anyone suggest a place I could take him for a weekend trip (we live in Ft. Worth) that we could experience outdoor/trail/chuck wagon type fun?
Most importantly: I cannot afford alot but I want to make everlasting memories for my grandson, which are priceless!
We love to fish, hike, camp, etc. This Nana can rough it for a day or two.
Thanks for anyone who can help with suggestions!

Some short easy drives from Fort Worth would be Cleburne, Meridian or Dinosaur Valley state parks. Dinosaur Valley has some nice hiking trails you could handle. In addition Fossil Rim wildlife reserve is just down the road from Dinosaur Valley. Sorry but I do not know of any chuck wagon type places, except there maybe one in Glen Rose?
Enjoy your time outdoors with your grandson

Howdy:

You live in Cowboy Country in Fort Worth. You could start in Fort Worth and work outward.

The CVB website is full of information, like the Grapevine Train that goes to the Stockyards, Stockyard Station, Stockyard National Historic District, to name a few.

I do not know the age of your grandchild, but here is a link to the Just For Kids activities.

The ranches at the top of this website are located in N. Texas.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
