Question Hill Country Flyer

Any feedback on this train ride, the short ride is cheaper than the old SP version and were considering this as a group outing in lieu of the old SP Austin Steam Train Association Yes there is a RR merit Badge

Re: Hill Country Flyer

Train was excellent.
Cars from the 1920's. Seats would either be regular, or turn lounge seating. Conductor would turn the seats as wanted. Windows opened, so you could free the
breeze. (maybe not a summer thing)
Back of the train was open, so you could watch the rails directly underneath. Between each car were the open standing areas where you could look out from the sides toward the front or back.
Crew wore period clothing, and talked about the trains, what the whistles meant, etc/

They also had a "recreation" western scene with the outlaws, sheriff, saloon girls, etc. The sheriff spent some time on firearm safety.

Re: Hill Country Flyer

Ride and stop takes most of the day, prices are listed. Packed and brought lunch, they gave a large group discount.
See the web site ASTA | Ride the Train
