Greetings From League City

Howdy, I'm Kurt. I'm new here, although not new to the camping or internet forum scene by any means. I discovered this site a few days ago (thanks, Happpy!), and have been trying to get the swing of it since. I see I have company here in League City, too... Cool!

I apologize in advance for my hokey handle, but decided to use it since I never leave home without a wooden yak on the racks. So if you see me in a CG, or anywhere else for that matter (not too many wooden kayaks out there), please feel free to come say hi. It's always great fun making new friends via the miracle of the internet, especially since I'm strictly a solo act.

My passion for astronomy is what got me started camping, and I build my own telescopes as well as my own kayaks. I'm always happy to talk at great length about either, and have a ton of experience in both pursuits to share with anyone and everyone who might be the least bit interested. Otherwise I try to keep my yapper shut. I'm also a birder, and Texas Master Naturalist.

I'm on my third pop-up camper, and have quite a bit of tent experience too, although I freely admit I'm a big time weenie -- I likes my electricity, and make no claims to being anything like a true backpacker.

It is my fond hope that I may learn a lot from y'all, and contribute some good stuff also. And finally, I say THANK YOU to Shannon, who seems to be quite the webmaster here! I am exceedingly impressed with what I have seen so far!!

Cheers, Kurt

Re: Greetings From League City

Welcome aboard. Do not feel bad about the camper thing. I have camped in 104 degrees at Mineral Wells in a nylon tent. But as I have gotten older I have gravitated to creature comforts. Love being outside at our parks, but when it comes time to bed down, I need more than my bedroll. A great group of people with a common interest on this board. Enjoy yourself
