Drought Buster?
So I was wondering about the drought in other parts of TX. Here in the Houston area, we're pretty much out of the drought as we've had four consecutive months of above average rainfall totals.
Austin with your area Highland Lakes? San Antonio? Dallas? West TX? Big Bend NP?
If you care to, ya'll weigh in on the rainfall amounts over the winter and into early spring. Has it busted the drought in your area?
I was hoping to get out on the Lone Star Trail while the temps were moderate and the bugs were not too bad. Reports are coming in that parts of the trail are ankle-deep in water.

Re: Drought Buster?
We live in North Texas, and have had a lot of rain the last few days and during the last month. We are officially no longer in a drought, but have stage 3 water restrictions.
We were recently down at two parks near College Station, trails were beat up some due to the wet winter they have had,
bike riding on the Lake Somerville trail looked rather uneven in spots of the trail. Which would also mean puddles if you went after a big rain
the lakes were not all full but much better than last summer.
Do you do day hikes or overnight? When you go take some pictures

Re: Drought Buster?
I did a day hike in early Feb. on the LST Huntsville section which is fairly high with some rolling hills. Only one small area had a mud puddle. I was planning on doing some BPing on the LST but with all of the rain, I'll probably scrap those plans. I really like the west side of the trail (Richards through the Little Lake Creek Wilderness). However, as the name suggests, at least a portion of that trail will be under water.
Are you planning on bringing the troop south?

River levels in Central Tex are looking good. Last Tuesday, North Bosque River came up 22 feet in four hours. Nice turn around since it completely stopped flowing last summer. Hoping very soon to put the canoe in @ Valley Mills for the trip down to Lake Waco. Been a couple of years since I've done it.

Re: Drought Buster?
Hey Troop,
I read recently that some of the forest service campgrounds (Cagle, Double Lake and Stubblefield Lake) are closed due to dead tree removal. They were able to address the conifers over the winter but now that the hardwoods are budding, they can ID those that didn't make it.
I'll let you know when I find out that they've reopened.
FYI
