Desperately Seeking EVENTS for Calendar
If you know of any Texas travel or recreation-related special events, club outings, expos, fairs/festivals, rodeos and such, let us know. Anyone can Submit an Event to our Calendar -- even unregistered users, since all submissions are reviewed prior to public posting.
Even if all you know is the date and a brief description or the name of the event, that gives us something to go on to track down more details and update your listing.
You need not be affiliated with a club, but if you are be sure we have your club's public events listed -- it's a great way to reach more people and potentially garner new members!
So, help get the word out about your events and those you enjoy attending yourself, by submitting events to our calendar today!
Thank you, gang!
PS: If you'd rather just email the details of the event(s) you wish to see added, that's welcome too. Click here to email the details to me.

Re: Desperately Seeking EVENTS for Calendar
I've added a handful of recurring events thanks to the terrific events' listings from REI's online stores in Austin. More events will be listed soon.
Check out all the new events in our calendar, today!
Still doesn't mean you guys and gals aren't off the hook from keeping me up-to-date and honest!
P.S. Effective starting today, a modest ($20) Amazon.com gift certificate is up for grabs for the person (member or guest, doesn't matter) who submits the most {useful, not bogus} relevant events to our calendar between now and September 1. If no one submits more than one event entry (each recurring/ranged event counts as ONE event), the certificate will remain up for grabs. We want to reward high achievement around here!
No knitting bees, free car washes, spammy stuff, but pretty much anything that might be of interest to outdoors folks is fair game as long as its somewhere in Texas. Fee-based events are fine, but we'll need the cost info. so people can gauge if the event's worth their while to travel to.

Re: Desperately Seeking EVENTS for Calendar
PS: We're also always desperately seeking new links for our Texas Web Guide. Is there a Texas travel, tourism, recreation or related website that we're missing? We've always aimed for that Web Guide to help provide jumping off points to ALL other useful resources one might need or want when visiting or relocating to Texas, planning trips, or just generally managing the day-to-day living in Texas (finding weekend getaways, travel and weather information, etc.)
No incentives offered to those who submit links, since we get enough spam links I don't want to invite more. But we happily list Texas businesses, products, artists, musicians, schools, camps (summer camps, RV campgrounds, etc.), volunteer organizations, etc.
PS: The Web Guide will be receiving a significant facelift and improvement soon. It's been long overdue for one. New software is sitting on my computer as we speak, waiting for me to wrap up other tasks to begin that migration effort.

Hey, gang, I've gotten a lot of events entered into the calendar now, with many more to come. I think it's time for me to implement a couple mods to the Calendar so it's easier to view events, now that we have so many "Multiple Events" dates listed on the calendar. If I implement a sweet upgrade that makes it friendlier to use, I'll let you know. In the meantime, I suggest if you're looking for things to do to click through the various dates you're interested in individually, or you may miss some interesting happenings.
As always, TODAY'S EVENTS are always listed at the top of the Forums page, although that too may be in need of some tweaking now that some dates have 6 or more events occurring on them (particularly weekends).
Just letting you know there's working being done to improve the usefulness of the site, as always.
Thanks, gang.
