BRR! Freezing precipitation
Who else chipped ice off their car today? heheh
Here's the current animated radar map showing frozen precipitation falling over much of South and Central Texas:
Weather Underground radar loop
And in case you see this thread later when the precip's stopped, here's what you missed seeing via that link --
Lovely, eh?
Stay warm, stay dry, stay safe!

Re: BRR! Freezing precipitation
Went through all of that the day before yesterday. May get snow/sleet tonight (left over from what you got). May get MORE on Saturday. Only good point is that it's said that this has done a good job of breaking the back of the drought we've been under. Really bad point is DW and I had planned a 3-day camping trip for this week. You can bet that it was cancelled ! I love camping but I haven't got rocks in my head !
Stay warm and happy camping!

Re: BRR! Freezing precipitation
Started as sleet and turned to snow about 4 AM. Not coming real hard but we've got about 1 1/2" on the ground and streets. City will come to a screeching halt. Better yet, they will most likely call an "ice day" at work! Good deal for DW and me! 8 hours pay each and we don't even have to leave home !
Happy Camping!

Re: BRR! Freezing precipitation
The snow was quite a surprise this morning.
Can we now say we've had enough cold and get back to a normal mild winter?

When did North Texas relocate to the North Pole? Growing weary of this mess with more to come by Friday...

Re: BRR! Freezing precipitation
Ice day here in Houston. But, unless the school districts file for a waiver we'll have to make it up. And our bad weather day is the 3-day weekend in Feb. that I've already made reservations to go to Corpus! So I'll be calling in sick that day.......

Re: BRR! Freezing precipitation
Here in Central Texas, it was quite icy. Me and my trusty superduty weren't scared. I just put her in four wheel drive and crept along to work. ( about 30 miles). The bridges were the worst of all. Got to work, just to get the word that we were down due to power curtailment. That was a nice thing to hear.
Hope everyone is staying warm. Summer is just around the corner!!!

Re: BRR! Freezing precipitation
We'll be making up those 2 ice days, NOT. We will go camping or something and pretend like we forgot about the "make up days". I'm glad we had gone to the grocery Friday morning and got the fixin's for tortilla soup, chili, cocoa, popcorn, queso dip, and firewood.
I already had a 4 day weekend from work and it turned into a 5 1/2 day weekend. That would have been great it we could have gone out and done something. Weeks ago I had my heart set on Seminole Canyon with a stop at Alamo Village on the way down. We got a severe case of cocoa-itis. We've made all the jigsaw puzzles, had a Harry Potter movie marathon, did the homework assignment for the month, worked on 2 more Cub Scout belt loops, and used up all the firewood. It was almost nice to go back to work yesterday afternoon, almost.
At least we know what to expect if this happens again this season. Stay warm.
