Wow, I finally am first at something! The Frio River continues to be cold in 2009. My DH and five friends did their annual dip in the river on New Year's Eve and it was the fastest he has moved in a while. They wore t-shirts to go in like that was gonna make them warmer. New to the jump are three teenagers that now have stories to take back home. I am the designated camera person, the only sane one in the group. It is foggy this morning but it has not been so cool that we could not enjoy the outdoors for the whole trip. Several locals from Frio Canyon joined our New Years Eve celebration and we enjoyed some careful fireworks from the annual firebug in the group.
Garner Park is busy with winter visitors and it looks like more people than there really is because they have a good part of it closed off for the season. We have seen huge numbers of deer that may make it for one more year and we have decided that the squirrels are fatter than dogs this year. We watched one at Garner yesterday while we were having a picnic and it climbed a tree on the river with a huge green apple in it's mouth. Of course the camera was in the truck, another chance missed. Hope everyone has a safe and healthy and of course, prosperous 2009 and I will be watching for all the great info on this site.
