Re: 4th of July 2008 going camping?

We are planning a trip from Dallas to Balmorhea State Park. It's going to be quite a haul for a weekend trip but there will be three of us driving so that won't be so bad. We'll probably head down to the Marfa Lights viewing area but otherwise we're just planning on swimming most of the time. I've been there once on the way to Davis Mountains State Park but couldn't swim because I didn't bring my suit. Who thought you could go swimming in late November? Ah, those who fail to plan...speaking of which, we haven't made reservations yet, yikes!

Re: 4th of July 2008 going camping?

We have reservations at Balmorhea State Park for Thursday and Friday. Saturday is completely booked up. As is this Saturday, and every Saturday past the July 4th weekend. I wonder if that's when the Scuba divers come to the park. Davis Mountains is completely full over the weekend, save for the primitive camping. So we're hoping that gas prices cause at least one cancellation in one of the two parks so we don't have to leave Saturday. Can't wait to jump in that water.

I have reservations for WORK. However, July 12-20, we'll be seeing South Llano, Davis, Big Bend, and South Llano.
