Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn Lakes

I'm trying to plan a camping/fishing trip and want to go to these 2 lakes. Does anyone know how much damage has been done there by Hurricane Rita? I'm trying to find a central location to camp between the two, but have noticed that some of the campgrounds are still closed due to the hurricane damage. I know that Lake Livingston suffered some damage to the dam and is still repairing it and the water levels there are like 5' below normal. And that is much further west of where Rita crashed into. Any information anyone might have about a good central location to camp and how much damage the area has sustained would be really welcomed and helpful!!!

Thanks a bunch!

Re: Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn Lakes

I ride my motorcycle out there sometimes. Rayburn looked fine?
Was a little low but not too bad.
www.shirleycreek.com is where a few I know camp. Had a little public area down the road that could be camped on (I think).
