You should try Lone Star Sharkers, Alamo Area Anglers, 2 cool Fishing web sites.

Welcome.

If you kayak, or you're wondering about it, I'd add TexasKayakFisherman to that list (which is a good list BTW)

Re: Goose Island Iishing

Havnt been to Goose yet when the trout are not playing in the lights under the pier. Your landmark will be the hump in the pier where everyone else is located . The trout cant get enough of the spec rigs but seem to have luck on the spoons also. You should catch quite a few but usually the keepers are just past the shadows waiting to ambush those smaller fish. Try to cast out and play where the light meets the dark.
We Like to reference the hook-N-line fishing maps that you can purchase at either academy or even Austin canoe and kayak for that matter. If your wade fishing or just fishing off the pier plan on reds and trout around the st charles reefs (bartell Islands) located just off the east side of the pier. The South side of the island is OK for wade fishing along the cut just watch the tide. Hail point (North, North East) should have some Flounder in May which can be accessed by land but better by kayak.
The great thing about the ocean is you can catch ANYTHING. Expect Black drum and sheepshead as well as the trout and reds. Dolphins can sometimes be spotted in the area as well.

Question Re: Goose Island Iishing

Hi! I'm new and I just wondered what you can tell me about Goose Island State park. Were going April 11th Thru April 16th. Do the camp sights have fire rings. I've never fished in the ocean before and niether has my husband. I'd like to try. And this might sound really silly , but do the trout and catfish you catch from the ocean taste different than fresh water ones. And just anything anyone can think of that might help us out. We camp in a tent and are old hands at camping, also are the hiking trails pretty good. I take nature and wildlife pictures along with fishing and hiking and camping. Also do we need any special fishing tackle? How you all can help me out.

Re: Goose Island Iishing

We were there over New Years. It was great. Seemed like fishing was best done from a boat.
