Fun fishing in South (near Austin)Texas 2009

April 11, 2009 — Blanco SP — Learn To Fish Family Fishing Day! — Children become certified Junior Anglers by learning basic fishing skills and safety at the river through games, booths and help from fishing experts. Families can then head down to the river to fish together. A limited amount of fishing equipment is available to borrow or you may bring your own. Appropriate for families with children over 6 years of age. 9-11 a.m. (830) 833-4333

April 18, 2009 — Lyndon B. Johnson SP&HS — Basic Flyfishing Class — In this FREE class, you will learn the basics of flyfishing and fly-tying taught by members of the Hill Country and Fredericksburg Flyfishing Clubs. All necessary equipment will be provided. Bring drinks and sack lunches and wear comfortable clothing for fishing. April 28, 2009 — Longhorn Cavern SP — Angler Education Instructor Course — This free workshop is open to anyone 17 or older interested in teaching the basics of fishing in their communities. The program provides the curriculum, equipment, materials and support to help volunteers successfully introduce youth and their families to fishing. May 2009 — Inks Lake SP — Go Fishing with a Ranger — Every Saturday. After a brief safety and basic fishing skill instruction, children will get a chance to go fishing with a Park Ranger and a Master Naturalist. This is a catch and release program that introduces fishing to our youngsters. A limited amount of fishing equipment (including poles and bait) is available from the park, or you can bring your own. Adult supervision is recommended. Accessible for the mobility impaired. 6-7 p.m. (512) 793-2223
