Choke Canyon Catfishing Report 03-27

Just got back from Choke Canyon 03-28,
I had 3 guys from Washington, Jay, Con and Brett. These guys came down to do some Hunting with my Dad here in the Hill Country and wanted to take back some nice Texas Catfish Fillets back to WA. They (my dad took a day off and came to fish with them) arrived at the lake late Mon Eve. so we went out for a couple of hours and came back with 35 nice cats before the rain and thunderstorms made us decide to go on back to the ramp, all fish were pulled out of very shallow water about 1'to 3'.

The Next day we went out on a mission, to harvest 4 limits of Catfish. We fished all kinds of water 6' to 10', deep water 20' to 30', and shallow water 1' to 3'.
Most all the fish came from the shallow water 1' to 3' the average cat was about 2# with some 4# and 5# here and there. We did end up with 100 Catfish. These guys had a great time and are looking forward to there next trip to TX.

Here are a couple pictures of the catch,

Brett, Jay, and Con with 35 catfish

Just about all of the fish came from the North end, off of Big Marv's and Lewis Kings Punch Bait, Both baits produced about even. Mostly from Greyhound point to the 99 bridge. Something I found a little odd was the number of Channels we caught. I would say it was close to a 50/50 mix with some real nice Channel cats. A lot of these fish were feeding very aggressively, some very hard hits, I'm talking you better be holding the rod or have it in the rod holder hits. It was a great trip, we had a blast.
