Inks for October

We are trying to plan a trip for the weekend of 6-9 ( monday is a school holiday, Columbus Day). Saturday the 7th there are a few activities planned in the park.

10:30-11:30am Stumpy Hollow Nature Hike
6-7 pm Fish with a Ranger
8-9 pm Full Moon Hike

The park interpretter from Brazos Bend suggested that if we could ever attend a full moon hike, we should go.

If anyone else would like to plan a group trip, or pot luck dinner, or something that weekend at Inks, .....well.,....if you plan it, they will come.

Re: Inks for October

Unfortunately my son's district did not take off that day, but the following Friday instead !! So no 3-day weekend for us, because my district & his don't agree!

Re: Inks for October

Thank you campermom for taking the initiative for planning this!! I greatly appreciate it!!
Our district doesn't have that Monday off either.
We could tentatively sign up, but leave Sunday mid-day. I think is only about 1.5 hours from us. We'll have to check soccer finals schedules before we can commit 100%. (hubby's coach) That should be out very soon. Even so, we could come out for Sat. night, that would be no problem! We could be there by noon or so on Sat.
Let's do a potluck too, that sounds fun! This is our very first time doing this, so anyone with insight, do share!!
I've read so many reviews now, is Inks the one that has a guided canoe tour? I'll research Inks in some spare time.

Don't forget to put it on your calendar here. "Add an Event" is the link in the calendar you'll want to use to submit an event. Registered users can submit an event and it will immediately be viewable.

Re: Inks for October

Wow, feedback, that's great. Inks IS the lake with guided canoe tours. If you haven't used a canoe before, there is a lesson before the tour. I'm not sure how much that one costs. The tour is $5 per person and must be reserved ahead of time. It was a two hour tour, a two hour tour . ( anyone remember Gilligan's Island? ) If you were to just rent a canoe, it would be $10 per hour.

Re: Inks for October

Just checked availability of Water/Electric sites. As of 08-13-06, there are 48 available for Fri Oct 6 ( 3 nights). Anyone who can only come for a day trip, that's fine also. Come on out and put some names with the faces. Cabins are partially booked. 0 Avail for Sat night. I didn't check the water only sites.

Re: Inks for October

I have GOT to remember to keep checking in here - I almost missed planning our first trip!

Campermom, did you reserve through reserveamerica.com? I'll go check on it too. School is out on Monday for us, and Sunday is our anniversary, so I can't think of a better way to spend the weekend.

We will reserve and plan to be there with the only caveat being a possible conflict with us getting the in-laws moved here. I have no idea how to plan a few things this fall because of this move (it's very difficult and complicated because they are elderly and ill and will live with us for a short time - ugh!)

I'm excited to meet everyone! I'll bring a big pot of chili for the pot-luck and DH will bring some cigars!

Re: Inks for October

Suzanne,
just get into the Inks TPWD site, one the left side is a section of options, follow the link for camping, it will put you thru to reserve america. You enter the type of site you'd like, and the date you are arriving, and how many nights you'll stay.

I am trying to get an idea of who'll be there, so far.

Nicholsinic 2 adults + kid/kids
Txplowpoke 2 adults + kid/kids
Daleoutside 2 adults + kid/kids
Campermom 1 adult + kid

so far so good.

Hey ya'll,
just to make things a little easier, and so we don't have a zillion threads about the inks lake event, we should start posting all information on the thread in the "Chat" section. sound good?
