Re: Any Beach campers?

I guess that depends on how you define "beach camping". Galveston Island State Park is my son's favorite (so far) park. We've camped there twice in the last 10 months.

Re: Any Beach campers?

Justin and I used to beach camp at Padre Island National Seashore all the time. Then life intervened and we've found ourselves camping trip-less for well over a year or two. {cries} It's through you guys' posts that we live vicariously through you now... we'll get back to it, it's just been a "low patch" in our outdoor recreation life together.

Re: Any Beach campers?

I hope you guys get back to beach camping Shannon, with all the camping venues out there. PINS is the last of the "let your kids go wild" or " unregulated fun for the family or individuals alike". My wife and I are very mindful of the kids and their activities in a campground. At PINS they can be kids, where else can parents let the kids run, yell and have fun?

Re: Any Beach campers?

Today is my dumb day...but how do you secure a tent for beach camping. Longer stakes? Is there something special you need? Laugh at my dumb question, then reply.

Re: Any Beach campers?

Longer, wider stakes, often with grooves in 'em to let sand/snow creep in and form a more secure stake-down when used.

I have big fat plastic ones I use when camping in sandy areas, like the beach, and I save the skinny metal ones that came with my tent (Sierra Designs Meteor Light CD) for camping at parks with typical tent pads or dirt.
