Re: Wild Texans Camping Club - first event
So it's filled up? We were waiting to get soccer schedules! Shoot!!! Do you pay at the time of reservations?
Hoping we can make it!!! Do you think the lake will be too cold to swim?

Re: Wild Texans Camping Club - first event
Reservations come available at the last minute sometimes. Check by day, maybe there isn't something for the whole weekend. Maybe there's a room in town for Sat night?
You pay a portion of the reservation when it's booked, or pay the whole thing.
The water will be fine for swimming, but will the air be hot enough? We'll see. There is plenty to explore, and you could fish, or rent a canoe.
The Federal Fish hatchery is on Park rd 4, as is Longhorn Cavern.

Re: Wild Texans Camping Club - first event
Hey ya'll,
I sent a PM to those who looked like they were planning on coming to Inks. I'd like to get an idea of how many are coming ( for the potluck dinner). Also, will try to get sites close to each other. Don't forget, the bullettin board in the foyer of the HQ. My son and I will be attending the park events, so if you can't find us at our site, look for us when we're taking the nature tour. This meets at the HQ on Sat am.

Mine was 5 in May. Looks like a good match. We'll bring the soccer ball.

Re: Wild Texans Camping Club - first event
Yes, it's 4 hours from my house to Austin, so we figured about 5 to there. He's a good traveler and we're going to leave a little early.

Re: Wild Texans Camping Club - first event
I must have looked at another weather channel.
Friday: partly crowdy with little to no chance of camping near water.
Friday Night: crowdy with 100% chance of cerveza
Saturday: Clear skies
Saturday night: 100% chance of cervezas late, becoming foggy by morning.

Re: Wild Texans Camping Club - first event
No matter which weather site you look at, they all saw we will see a "Full Moon". That is what happens after a cerveza front rolls thru, right?

Re: Wild Texans Camping Club - first event
I love that late evening sound when the sun first goes down. You can hear the faint sounds of campfires crackling in the distance. The crickets begin to chirp -- somewhere off in the distance some kids are singing. It's a great rhythm, when you add to the mix the "psshhht" sounds of cans opening, releasing stress immediately.
The song goes something like, "chirp, chirp, crackle crackle-pshht. chirp, crackle - psshht. Chirp, psssht - pssht, AHHHHH!"
Something like that.
;-)

Re: Wild Texans Camping Club - first event
The trip was VERY nice. I am trying to get final edits done to my video to post soon. Campermom and her family was there and they were really nice. I was solo with my son, and without my wife there I was doing double duty. I was too tired to do late night socials.
The park was great! The water was great! Slipping on the rocks and tearing my leg up, falling backwards and hitting the water was not great! LOL
We loved it!

Re: Wild Texans Camping Club - first event
It was great to spend some time with CC and his cutie pie son. He got there before us and grabbed us a primo site. The handicap site was great cuz we had an extra large table, and a large patio slab. Shower house on one side, drop-off on the other. We were a stone's throw from CC's camp site. The first 2 nights were crowded but the last night, ahhhh, the last night. I got the fire going and we just chilled.
We did go on the nature hike, which was interesting, but somewhat crowded. We swam, fished ( caught a couple sunfish), did the "fish with a ranger" ( won't do that again ), and the owl prowl. Now that was neat. CC and son also did this. I'm sure the video will be cool.
CC, Thanks man, I hope we can meet up again sometime. Next time bring your wife, camping is so much easier with 2 adults. ( well, it should be :asleep
