    Growing Tomatos, Up-Side-Down???

Any body tried these and how did they work out for you? Which varieties did you try (I like "Early Girls" but will try others). Lost my garden plot due to the growth of some trees next door plus I just don't have the time for it any more. Want to try something a little easier.

Please let me know what you think and,

    Re: Growing Tomatos, Up-Side-Down???

I have the the topsy turvy for strawberries, they were getting rid of the topsy turvy late in the year so got one it was like $2 or less

PRO it worked well for strawberries. I may replant some this year. having the plants in one place was a little easier but i still failed them (see below)

CON, after you add the dirt and the plants it weights a lot, make sure you have a god stud to hang it into. I never did hang it but it worked find

I also negleted it some in last years hot summer and it dried out some as I lost two plants, so watch how you water it.

    Re: Growing Tomatos, Up-Side-Down???

I figure that they have to be pretty heavey but I shouldn't have to move them too often. We have the old style "T"-shaped, steel pipe laundry line poles in the back yard. Planning on hanging two there. That will give them full sun until we make it to "Super-Summer". Then I'll move them to the eastern edge of our patio cover (also all steel). That will give them full morning sun and shade from mid-afternoon through the evening. I think it is worth a try unless I hear different from others here. I'll probably start with two for this year and add 2-4 more next year, if it works out well. According to their on-line instructions, that will allow me to grow up to 12 tomato plants and if they all yeild properly, that will give us plenty to eat fresh and enough to freeze for the next winter. Thanks and,

    Happy Camping!
