Can anyone recommend great tent sites at these two parks? We plan to go there next summer and I will be making reservations this summer as I see you can make them a year in advance and I want the best possible sites.

For Lake Ouachita I am wanting something shaded and on the water. Walk in tent sites were recommended by someone else however once I ran that by my husband it was promptly vetoed as he wants electricity. I'd like for my kids (and myself;)) to be able to just get right in the water when we feel like it and not have to walk to the swim beach. Plus we will have two of our dogs and I want them to be able to swim and play with us. Any recommendations?

We are mainly going to Petit Jean to hike so wooded sites are fine. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

I've wanted to summit Mount Livermore for some time so I decided that this weekend was the one.

I flew out of DFW Friday evening to El Paso and spent the night in the Indian Lodge in Fort Davis State Park. I had never stayed there before and it's a place I'd stay in again.

Saturday morning I along with a hiking buddy from Oklahoma set out for the preserve. The weather was pleasant but windy (nearly 50 mph on the Livermore summit) and we made a side trip to Tobe Springs before hitting the summit.

Meridian has 8 full hook up sites; 7 water and electric sites; 14 primitive sites a group camping area, a dining hall with full cooking facilities; and 11 screened shelters, 6 of which are right on the water; a boat ramp, a day use picnic area with tables, a swimming beach; and hiking trails.

We were here in April of 20102 many bluebonnets were already gone (4/22) but some were still around as was other color.
Took the hike around the lake and had a great time
