You know where I fall in that poll--sadly, have a road bike (fits great) and mountain bike (fits not-so-great) and don't get/make time to ride either as much as I need or want to... even with the road bike mounted on its CycleOps indoor bike trainer. It's very challenging with an active 15-month-old underfoot and in need of supervision.

My bike just seems to gather dust most of the time. Not prepared to ride it the 18 miles to work, but am trying to utilize it for short errands. Looking to find some baskets/saddle bags to put items in from store. Might look sort of tacky but am not in a beauty contest, more like a survival test.

Used to and once rode a couple times a week. Left knee won't seem to take the stress well any more. Sold my 10-speed (road bike) and thought about a different type of bike but don't want to spend the money on one and then find I have the same issues. Just as soon paddle my 'yak:thumbsup:.

If you ever get a wild hair, Turn Key, you might want to check out a Townie. My father-in-law (Justin's dad) has a Townie, and a problematic knee and back, and he rides it daily with good results. It's an especially good bike for folks with back problems.
Bicycling is one of the most knee-friendly activities one can do. I know, since I've had ACL reconstruction, partial meniscus (cartilage) removal and a meniscus repair on my left knee. I didn't get back into cycling (was active growing up, for exercise & transportation,) until *after* my knee surgery in 2005.

Wife and I own Trek mountain bikes. In addition to trail riding, I ride around the neighborhood, to neighborhood store, and anywhere else "safe". I live in rural East Texas; a bicyclist is worth 75 points on the "Bubba" splatter scale.

Justin & I own two road bikes (both Felt) and two mountain bikes (both Gary Fisher). Two of the four bikes were purchased and partially funded ($400) by a small exercise equipment stipend Justin's employer gives annually to each employee.

Have read and heard about these. Haven't had a chance to see or ride one but it may be something to look in to.

Yes, my husband and I both own a Trek bike. Don't ride from home because of the hazardous county roads but always take them to the state parks when we go.

I have three in different states of repair. Mostly inexpensive "mountain bikes" which just means knobby tires, higher bars, etc.
I do love to ride and go out at least once a week around where I live. I don't ride as much as before since I can get on the lake out any time I want. But since I am either paddling or rowing, I still get my exercise.
FYI, unless you are really pumping up hills, it isn't as strenuous exerxcise as other forms, like jogging. I use a Heart Rate monitor, and have to really pump up hills to get the same readins as even light jogging.
