Earth Hour Tonight 8-9 PM Local Time

Cities mark Earth Hour -- a single hour of energy conservation.
Sydney, Australia is among world's first city to "go dark":

Google's home page is black to mark the event, today, as well.

Anyone can do this... turn off all your lights from 8 to 9 PM. Light up some candles -- pretend it's a power outage! -- turn on the camp lantern, play some scrabble or Monopoly, look at the stars (if it's not cloudy) or make up stories about the people that lived where you are, thousands of years ago, etc.

So, did you do anything?

I was visiting my parents and we were watching a movie at 8 PM, but we turned off all the lights, lit candles and enjoyed the movie by candlelight. Mother Nature provided a bit of her own lights, anyway, with lightning far off in the distance.

We did as you did; lit candles, turned out all the lights, but finished watching a movie.

We took a look around our immediate neighborhood, which included looking across a canyon out back at another neighborhood, and were disappointed to see so many lights on. I estimate that less than 25% of homes in our area were dark.
