Week of T'giving we're 'redneck camping' in my cousin's yard in Marble Falls. Everyone's coming but WE get to bring our own beds!!
We're headed to Garner the 12-15 of November and then Back to Guadalupe for Thanksgiving!
November 13/14/15 we shall be at Inks with 4 other families from Scouts.
Charcoal is a spice, dirt is a condiment, and there is no 3 second rule.
November 14th - 19th (if not later), I'll be in Florida eagerly awaiting the launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis on this 6th to last Space Shuttle mission before the Shuttle fleet's 2010 retirement & decommissioning.
All the camping sure sounds enticing, though! If I have some time, I'll try to hit some Florida parks but the focus of the trip is the Shuttle launch.

Guess I'm going camping too! Having to use a week of vaykay mid November, so I suppose I'll load up the Jeep and take my peregrination among Bastrop/Buescher/Huntsville/Somerville/McKinney/?/?....... just some places I haven't been yet and I'll work on the TPWD Geocache challenge while I'm at it. Different hike/camp/drive each day ought to keep the wheels of adventure in motion!
Have another week to use up in December too, a little teaser for the likely soon to come "Who's camping in December?" thread.

Sounds like a fun trip. I love Bastrop and McKinney. Not so much on Buescher ( just becasue it looks just like Guadalupe to me and Guad is much closer) Never been to Huntsville and Summerville is soooo far for us. McKinney is a regular spot of us in the winter, along with Pedernales ( going in January to both ha ha. There's a bump for whos going on jan). We do Bastrop every February.
Well, I made reservations for Palmetto the weekend before Thanksgiving. Then I realized that I have a conflict that weekend. So we have pushed that trip to Spring Break. After all of that wrangling, I decided that I couldn't wait until March. We are now going to San Angelo in January, as well.
Actually, of all the parks I visited last week, Huntsville was my favorite and Lake Somerville-Nails Unit was my second fave. In each instance, I asked the ranger to suggest a prime site and both places I was rewarded with a lake front campsite along with the fact that I may have very well been the only camper in either park. Spent 2 nights at Huntsville and 1 at Somerville-Nails. I'd definitely recommend either for winter time getaways where peace and cool starry nights were sought after.
Also visited Palmetto, Lockhart, McKinney, Washington on the Brazos, Somerville-Birch Unit, Kriesche-Monument Hill, Buescher, Bastrop, and Guadalupe with overnight stays in Bastrop and McKinney too. McKinney and Bastrop were both first time visits and I enjoyed hiking both and will return to either in the future. WOTB/ Living history farm and Kriesche/ Monument are both steeped in rich history and make nice day visits. Good stuff for sure!![]()
