Hey dwalsdorf! I know this is an old post but I saw that you have a Eureka 3-room. I have A Eureka also...the "Condo". We love this tent but it is HUGE (10'6 x 20 & 8'6 center height) and kind of a pain to put up. Do you have a similar problem with yours?

When we camp, it is my BF, 11 yr old son, and myself and my BF just doesn't have the skill for setting up tents...lol so it is kind of hard for me to manage it almost alone. I just bought one of Blackpine Sports' Turbo Tents. It has a little more floor space and should be a snap to set up. I can't wait to try it out but my BF hurt his back so it will have to wait a few weeks. I was just curious if you had any quick tips/tricks to setting up the Eurekas

So sorry for the delay--have not visited in quite a while. Yes, the bigger tents--no matter what the brands--are more of a pain to put up, and tear down, actually. The biggest trick is to leave the tent spread out and flat until all of the fiberglass poles are through the sleeves, Once they are, THEN start securing the footings and snugging up the tents along the poles.

The big Eurekas also b-a-r-e-l-y fit on the Texas State Parks pads, that are about 16' squared.
In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell...it was a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort. :asleep:

I just purchased a Eureka 11 X 11 dome tent...i set it up in the backyard this weekend to seam seal it and it took me less than 15 mins with no help. it's tall inside, easy to setup, looks nice...just wondering how it'll hold up in a storm. [IMG][/IMG]

can't wait to use it at garner sp this month!

The fact that the rain fly DOES NOT reach all of the way to the ground could be an issue, if you encounter a storm that's really blowin' and goin'.

    Enjoy your trip.

hopefully it doesn't rain...the major thing that I did not like is that it has two long seams on the floor of the tent. i think it would be better if it was one solid piece not several seamed together. not sure if that's normal for a big tent...last tent i had was a threeman tent and it didn't have a seam on the floor.

I also have a Eureka but the floor is solid...no seams and it is pretty long. I always put down a tarp or something to protect the underside from mud, hidden sticks & the like. If you do that you should be okay. I have never had a problem with leaks or anything.

We have what I like to call our Summer Home. I don't remember what brand it is but it is a big 18 x 13. You can fit 8 people but it is usually just 2 or 4 at most so we have plenty of room to stretch out. The first time we used it we got flooded and soaked. First camping trip ever and our tent pad is at teh bottom of a hill with nowhere else to move to. A gullywasher came that night and things were floating and rain was dripping all over us. Thankfully the sun came out the next day and we dried out. Needless to say we went back home and resealed the tent. Has been great since.

We also have a smaller Coleman brand that fits two airmattresses nicely but not much else. We use it for the kids or storage mostly.

I want to get another tent a bit bigger than our Coleman for dh and I to use when the kids use the Coleman so we don't have to set up that big Summer Home.
