Thanksgiving Day Camping

My husband is getting a little bit ambitious with his dutch oven cooking and so he decided that we needed to go camping for Thanksgiving. I am excited (not about the cooking) but because I can hopefully avoid the laying around getting fat part of the Holiday.

We have 4 kiddos (10, 6, 4 an 2.5) and like to tent camp.

Any suggestions for where in late November?

Any ideas for THE BIG MEAL?

Re: Thanksgiving Day Camping

Were heading to Lake Brownwood State Park for Thanksgiving. The family, all 6 ( Kids 19,12,12,12) of us are going to do some camping and hopefully kayaking if its not to cold. Its amazing how many people go camping during the thanksgiving holiday's. Well pop over to some inlaws and do some deer hunting as well.

Re: Thanksgiving Day Camping

We last camped over Thanksgiving at Tyler SP...but that was in a trailer. If tent camping, I'd probably head south -- at least as far as San Antonio. There are parks even further south and, of course, there's the Gulf coast.

Re: Thanksgiving Day Camping

One consideration is the traffic and how far you're willing to go. Did you have a certain area in mind? We too are camping this Thanksgiving outside of Dallas and we're going to give the turkey fryer a try.

Happy camping.
