Have any of y'all ever had the situation where Reserve America said one thing but the TPWD reservation line said something totally different??

I just checked Reserve America for Guadalupe River State Park on Nov 3-5th and it shows all sites still available... however, when I called to make a reservation they said they didn't have any water only sites left, only primitive and Water/Electric. How strange is that?? I went back and check to make sure I wasn't crazy as a loon (well, THAT'S still debatable!!) and it still says everything is open.

So, has anyone experienced this problem before??? I went ahead and made the water/elec reservation but we're just in a tent I'm wondering if we're going to be overwhelmed by all the RV's or if the sites are spread out enough... Sigh!!!

I believe you will be ok. It's a nice park and the camping spots are not on top of each other.
The new reserveamerica layout has me wondering. I wish they would go back to their old site. I would trust TP&WD. Remember if you get there and don't care for the water/elec. site, ask if there are any water only sites available. I hope you have a great time.

Phone reservations and updates to the website are not made simultaneously. What transpires on the phone happens in real time, so expect the website to be woefully behind in the process. That's why when you make a reservation online, it still needs to be 'confirmed'.

Speaking of RA, I was playing around on the new site just last night for the first time and already it was down. I haven't tested everything out yet, but I can safely say that I'm thoroughly unimpressed with the map functionality.

I tried to book a site at Ray Roberts SP and despite the fact that the dates I want are showing "A" (available), I am getting the message, "Inventory is not available. Site cannot be booked".

Guess I'll be making reservations over the phone from now on.

While I was trying to get a better reservation at Inks Lake, I called each day. Once when I called the park I was told that their information was a day old and had not yet been updated.

So, I guess there is no real safe place to know for sure, until someone builds a website where you see maps of the parks, all the spots realtime and what's taken and available. Click on the map where you want to camp - reserve it, pay for it, be done with it.
