Question sewing a tent-help!

Our poor tent has a tear in the seam. It tore about 10 inches on the bottom seam along the ground. Thank goodness it happend in the backyard. I'm thinking there's more to the story, but my Black Lab not talking!
Any advice on how to sew it up? I bought a sewing repair kit at Academy Sports, and I bought some tent "glue". Should I sew first then glue, or glue then sew? Or neither? Should I use a whip stitch or is there a better one for tents?
Thanks in advance!

Since your in Killeen, try getting someone to sew it up. I know there are many places that sew on army patches and such. Call around and do a little bit of begging and I bet you'll find someone to help.

Re: sewing a tent-help!

Hey nic,
I would try the adhesive that they sell for the a/c boot I posted, plus sewing. Not sure on the stitch method, though. I think if it was my tent tent I would close the tear with stitching, then put a patch on both sides with adhesive, let dry, then stitch the patch. Also I think after the 1st stitch on tear I would set up the tent and pull it tight before applying the patches. Never had to do it, just my opinion.
good luck

You must have a lot of confidence in me. If I am able to fix it, I will post pictures and how *I* did it, but they certainly won't be "how to's" Know what I mean! lol

Thanks for you tips, DH and I agree that's how we're going to tackle it.
