Primitive Camping in East Texas

Im looking for some primitive areas in East Texas to go camp with a couple of friends in February. Something that is far from the camp grounds and requires a nice hike to get to would be cool. Preferably halfway between Houston and Dallas...so like the Nacogdoches Palestine area (I know they arent too close together...but that general region). Thanks...

Re: Primitive Camping in East Texas

The 4c trail in the Davey Crockett national forest could be what your looking for. 22 mile end to end or hike in ten miles to a shelter and back. Had some rain so fires might be allowed and you can stash water and ???
Also heard the rangers will give you a ride to the Neches bluff trailhead and you can hike the 22 miles. Easy two day hike...

Ratcliff lake trailhead is out of Crockett near Kennard.
