Please help me find a decent campground!

Hi all! I'm looking for a campground that is in the Gulf Coast or Pineywoods region, preferably no more than an hour to an hour and half to drive from Houston. Campsite has to have tent sites, trails, atleast somewhat peaceful, wildlife is nice, and dogs on leashes are okay. I've been to Brazos Bend, Double Lakes, Galveston SP, Bethy Lake, Chain O Lakes, Huntsville, Lake Livingston, and out of these, Brazos Bend was our favorite. We're looking for a new campground to experience though, and I'm out of options...Anyone with any suggestions out there? Thanks!

If you need to keep it closer than 60 miles, the state parks link does a nice job TPWD: State Parks Near Houston

then read the reviews next to parks on the left of this forum,
otherwise up to 200 miles gets you to lots of parks near Austin and San Antonio.
otherwise see this forum discussion also Spring break quiet getaway

Re: Please help me find a decent campground!

I just got back from Stubblefield lake, and i really enjoyed it. I was also looking for new places. I'l put this one down as a "go to again" place. It has a trail, and water if you like kayaking, boating, fishing etc. Dogs are fine on leashes. Lots of tall pines, and if you like wildlife-a racoon crawled into our car while we were sleeping in it!

this is kind of like telling someone of your best fishing spot.
But a place that is Great and I hardly see anyone using the tent sites is Wolf Creek on Livingston..out of Cold Spring.....now shish it and don't tell anyone.
