Northeast Texas, primitive camping spots.
Does anyone know of any camping spots in Northeast Texas that are free and basically allow you to just drive off a trail and pitch a tent w/o hiking. I don't want to pay money and I don't want any sites that have picnic tables, cement parking spots, pre-made camp fire spots, or bathrooms. I am looking for something in the pines preferably but anything will help. I am in DFW, thank you.

Closets I know of is Davey Crockett N.F. You could drive and park on the trails (4c) many intersecting roads and walk (not hike) in a short way

Re: Northeast Texas, primitive camping spots.
The national forests would be your best bet. Crockett and Sam Houston would be the closest to you. For a map search of the Crockett, look for Ratcliff which is where the 4 C's trail starts. For the Sam Houston, look for Huntsville. Just south of Huntsville, the Lone Star Trail passes under I-45.
Another option for you is to take I-30 to Arkansas and the Ouachita National Forest. Traveling the Interstate, it's not that far. You'll get into more elevation, which I really prefer.
Give me a shout if you want more details.

Davey Crockett N.F. Is Between Lufkin and Crockett on Hiway 7.
Near Kennard and in Ratcliff like Todd said. Not much in Ratcliff so don't know if it makes the map

Re: Northeast Texas, primitive camping spots.
I suggest you look into LBJ National Grassland north of Decatur or Caddo National Grassland northeast of Bonham. You can find more info here, http://www.fs.fed.us/r8/texas/recreation/index.shtml
Don't be fooled by the name "grassland". There are lots of trees and hills and several small lakes. We have never camped at either of these areas, but they are among our favorite places to hike. If you are in the DFW area, both of these (and especially LBJ grasslands) would be a lot closer than the National Forests near Huntsville.
