need suggestions

Four of us retired guys want to spend some time tent camping in the hill country and play some golf. We want a park where we are able to drink a little beer after golf. The state parks are wonderful, but they as you know prohibit alcohol. Been there many times with my family and it has never been a problem because we did it discreetly. Is the no alcohol rule enforced? Or just enforced when there is a problem group? Are there any private camp grounds that compare to the state parks with showers, toilets, and water? Thanks for you help. We need to get out of Houston.

Re: need suggestions

I've camped at lots of state parks and haven't had any problems.
Just behave and don't draw attention. I have seen the rangers make their rounds and stop to talk to those who needed "talking to". Have fun and get out of Houston.

Hi "Gagger" and welcome aboard! hope we can help.

Your question is easy to answer; Inks Lake SP is where you want to go. Great park that does have a golf course. Can't attest to the quality of the course but many seem to like it. As far as the alcohol rule goes, keep it discreet and your not likely to have any problems. I never have. Here's a site for my last review of Inks.

Hope you have a great trip and,

Happy Camping!

Re: need suggestions

I enjoy a discreet adult beverage while camping all the time. One time at Brownwood, one of the park employees saw me and came to the camper and made me pour it out. Mind you I was alone at the time, by the camper making no noise at all. He just recognized my brown bottle for what it was and wanted to play hard ball for some reason. I poured it out and the next one was in a plastic cup inside of two minutes later. I am not real smart sometimes but a fast learner. As the others have said be discreet and respectfull and you will not have a problem. In thirty plus years of camping at state parks, that was the one and only time I have been confronted. As far as golf: Lockhart, Bastrop and as TurnKey mentioned Inks.
Enjoy the outing

Re: need suggestions

Thanks much 4everfrio, Turnkey, and rockhill. Your advice is greatly appreciated. We have made reservation for Inks lake Park and plan to bring our adult beverage cooler. I'll be thinking of you.
