Re: Mom's Day weekend at Fairfield Lake SP

Went to Fairfield on easter weekend and loved it. Wind was too strong but the weather was nice park was in good shape and except for the loud camp behind us for one night everyone was having a good time. we stayed there a few days before easter and on easter day and the kids were in heaven on sunday. they had the run of the place. counted only 10 campsites that day. we left easter evening after having a family prayer with my brothers family down at the water at sunset.
enjoy!!

Re: Mom's Day weekend at Fairfield Lake SP

Okay, just got back yesterday.....Our trip was over Mother's Day weekend 2008. The drive over from Tyler (where we live) was easy and not too long, as was finding the park itself cuz we've never been before. The rangers recommended a nice site nearby the water & it was great (water only). The sites have no pads (yay!) and are large & well spaced apart. The restrooms were pretty disgusting and didn't seem to be cleaned adequately throughout the whole weekend, however. Feces smeared across the walls of the bathroom stalls and debris inside shower stalls.....really bad, IMO.
The swimming area was nice (and the water temp due to the TXU power plant) was quite warm for this early Springtime, too. Lots people out swimming!
We hiked the Fairfield birdwatching trail and saw some interesting things...an armadillo scrounging for food about 10 ft away from the trail, a beautiful cardinal, some red tailed falcons, and cattle egrets. Nice. Oh, also saw a snake crossing the road just before dark....ugh.
All in all, a nice place and good as an early season swimming spot especially.

EWWW Bathrooms sounds bad, bummer,Some people just don't need to go out in public places. Glad you found a place for your condo (tent) .Well besides the restrooms sounds like you had a fun time.Take Care

Re: Mom's Day weekend at Fairfield Lake SP

My Dd calls her tent a condo,It has A/C ,aero double high air bed,a roll a round clothes holder, night stand with lamp,a dorm fridge.Heck it might be better then some condos. If she wants a doorbell I'm drawing the line.

Did'nt you get a larger tent or am I thinking of someone else ? Any way thats way the condo comment.

Boy, I feel bad I deprived my dw and kids, as we used a 10 by 16 for four people

(And now I have a hybrid TT that can sleep 8 but sleeps just us 2)

(At last DW gets paid up )
