Meridian State Park. Advice?

Looks like we'll be heading up to Meridian SP for Thanksgiving this year, just couldn't afford the time this year for the drive out to Big Bend. So, we're gonna try a park we've never been to, Meridan SP.
Anybody been up there before? looks like it has a great little lake for the canoe ans some nice hiking trails from the TPWD map.
thanks

Re: Meridian State Park. Advice?

Meridian is a nice little park to visit. The screened shelters are right on the water. The full hook up sites and water and electric sites are just a short walk up the hill by the office. They have quite a few water only sites below the dam area. If you are bike riders the loop in the park is a nice little ride. It has been some time since I have been on the trails so can not speak to their quality or lack of. The rangers and office people there have always been great. My only complaint is the water/electric sites are a little tough to get into. A short, narrow road to turn around on then narrow sites to back into. Lots of cedar, or ashe juniper to be correct, so plenty of shade.

Enjoy your visit

Re: Meridian State Park. Advice?

Pretty much like "rockhill" said. "Power & Water" sites are a bit snug. #10 is about the best, to my way of thinking. "Full Hook-Up" sites were re-done a number of years ago and are very nice.

Take your fishing poles. Have caught a few nice bass in that lake and all I was doing was fiddling around.

Not much in Meridian but there was a good BBQ place in Clifton on HWY 6, just a few miles south. Can't recall the name of it but it is on your right side as you come into Clifton.

Happy Camping!

That's "Bunkhouse BBQ" and it looks like it is still there.

Happy Camping!
