Martin Dies SP and coons?

Has anyone been to Martin Dies lately? I haven't been back since early last summer and the coons had been worse than usual. We were up several time during the night running off literally a dozen or more, and by morning every last inch of our truck, bassboat (parked on the trailer) and gear outside were covered with muddy coon prints. They even managed to open one of the supposedly "locked" storage bins on the boat, pull out a backpak inside that was under several lifevests, literally unzip it and pull out the unopened granola bars!

They've always been numerous there, but last year seemed abnormally bad.

Any recent visits?
tnx,
WestTexas

Re: Martin Dies SP and coons?

I believe the park is closed until March? At least that's what the relocated (rita) camper down the road from us said?

I know what you mean about the coons. We cooked crawfish there one year and they were stealing the shells and eating them! They had to be cajun coons cause they seemed to love the spice

We were standing around a fire eating crawfish and everyone but me was drinking. our neighbeor who we camped with had a coon up on it's hind legs standing 6" from her backside. I told her and she thought I was full of " " and would do anything for a laugh?
When she finally turned she screamed so loud the coon actually appeared frightened. I guess ya had to be there but it was one of the funniest things I had seen for a while
