Greetings All ~

I am new to this forum and I have very much enjoyed reading the posts made by the members. Some info I have read I already knew, some was new to me.

I am looking for current information for camps in the Frio Canyon area that have tent campsites available. I have been to the Frio Canyon many times, but it has been many years since I have had a chance to get back there.

I have tried doing some online searches. I come up with a lot of RV sites and cabins rentals, but hardly anything about tent camping sites.

I know Garner is an obvious choice, but we were thinking about maybe trying somewhere else.....to see another part of the river. Of course we would be making a day trip (or 2) to Garner. You just can't go to the Frio without visiting Garner and all it has to offer!!

We have stayed at Mager's many years ago. Does anyone know if they still have tent camping available there?

We also had stayed at Bee's Camp (Concan) before, but I read some reviews online that their facilities had really gone downhill and were in disrepair. These reviews were from 2005, so I was wondering if anyone knew what the current conditions were like there. We really liked staying at Bee's because the campsite we had last time was literally just a few steps from our tent to river.

Any current information about these campsites, or others in the area, would be greatly appreciated! I thought I would ask here before making a lot of long distance phone calls.

Mager's does has tent camping. We stayed at a RV park just next door to them and noticed the tents because we sometimes go the tent route. Bee's near Concan ...well with the last couple of floods, the river has changed its route somewhat and Bee's was hit really hard. I don't think there is anything there now but river rock and some river scraped Cypresses. Just up 83 from Garner there is a private campground but for the life of me, I can't recall the name. I know it was just before Crider's Cabins and Bakery. If I can remember it I'll post again.

Not sure if this is the exact one I'm thinking of on 83 but try Yeargan's. Also, on County Road 350 there is Serenity Bluff. Might be something to look into.

I really appreciate your input, riverrat! I will definitely check into the places you mentioned.

I am so sad to hear about Bee's camp. They used to have some awesome riverside campsites. But, you have to be able to accept the changes of nature in order to truly appreciate nature.

If anyone knows of any other tent campsites in the Frio canyon, I would be most grateful for the information!!!

Thank - you, srds! I will add Andy's to my list of places to contact. At least now with help from you guys, I HAVE a (small) list of places to check out! lol
