I've put a kayak in at Chisolm Trail and paddled up the river a couple of times, but never stayed at the parks. There are a lot of people partying hard, late, and loud on that lake on warm weekends.

We liked it very much. We camped there in a motorhome in April of 2005. They have several nice camping areas and lots of space.

Re: our trip to whitney

We had a great trip ,the weather was a little iffy at times but we made the best of it.I really liked the lake it has some great fishing spots,We caught bass, crappie ,and catfish. The park was very clean and we had a good spot right on the water.to cold to swim ,but we did wade. The park staff wer'e very helpful. We only had 22 people show up for our campout ,but the weather had alot to do with that.I can't wait to come back in the summer and try out the swimming and the boating. The park has plenty off space and was pretty quiet after 10 pm .We did'nt see a whole lot of wildlife just coons and rabbits. The bathrooms were extra clean and plenty of hot water. We did'nt do alot off sight seeing this trip but stores are only 20 minutes from the park. The kids rode the bike trails and had no complaints, and no flats.I would be sure to take enough firewood in it was a bit pricey.
good camping

We were at McCown Valley Park (Corps Park) last week. Very nice and we intend to return. Have been to the State Park there and were not very impressed. Nothing wrong with it, just like other SP's better. Will be posting a full review of McCown in a few weeks.
Happy Camping!

Can't wait to read your review and find more spots at lake whitney,I was told about McCown Valley Park by friends that live by the lake and they had good things to say about it.We got to busy to go sight seeing,I had'nt been to lake whitney for years and we were glad to see it's still a very beautiful lake.We plan on making it one of our yearly camping spots.
Thanks
