How do you seal a tent up?

I guess we need to do this to our tent this year since we got so wet last year when it rainedin and on the tent. Any advise would be great. Do you need to do this to new tents as well? I just bought two new tents for my kids.

Thanks,
Connie

Be sure and read your instructions for your tent, some tents can be harmed by sealants.WalMart-Academy-REA-sell sealants .most are in spray cans that smell really bad until they dry .I use Campdry brand and had good results.Be sure you test a small area on your tent before doing the whole tent, some can discolor and even weaken the material.Make sure you let it air out and dry before taking down.My daughters tent only requires a good hose down to protect from weather, mine a Coleman, leaked until I sealed it with Campdry,I used 2 cans.I hoped this helps some.

What kind of Coleman tent do you have? I have a Red Canyon tent that they guarantee to be weatherproof.....maybe that's a joke after all I've read here. I think I'l seal the seams.
