Re: Hill Country SNA
Trip Report-
Well, had a pretty good (albeit wet) weekend. We set up at campsite 128. It took us until dark to get everything set up, but most of the trails were closed, anyway. My daughter and I did hike over to West Verde Creek and take a look. Despite the rain, the falls were more of a trickle. Didn't get much hiking in on Saturday, we attempted trail #9, but since it was one of the few trails open, there were quite a few horses on it, turning the trail into a muddy mess. Oh well, my wife discovered what her favorite thing to do on a camping trip is...NOTHING. She was loving the peace and quiet and just sat down in a camp chair with a drink and her books and was very happy.
Saturday night was an experience, all 48 degrees of it. I haven't been that cold in a long time. Sunday was beautiful (of course) but we headed home early to clean up.
All in all, a great trip, we are making plans to go back later in the summer when things are much drier.
