guadalupe river SP
I am planning on going to GRSP with some of my friends. One of the rules is " It is an offense to consume or display an open container of an alcoholic beverage in a public place"
Does this pertain to drinking a beer at your own campsite?

Re: guadalupe river SP
If others can see you drinking it, yes. Do so discreetly, don't go walking around it and don't take it into the day use areas. They literally mean public consumption is not permitted. What you do in your own tent/RV is your own business, at least when it comes to alcohol consumption. Drink wisely.

Re: guadalupe river SP
thanks I am going there in july.
You said IN your tent. The reason I ask is I don't want to get a ticket for grillin some burgers and drinkin a beer at my own campsite.

Re: Guadalupe River SP
Like Shannon says. Rule is there so that "Mr. Ranger" can deal with those with less then good sense. Don't put it on display or get out of order and you'll have no problems.
Enjoy GRSP! It's a great park!
Happy Camping!

Re: guadalupe river SP
Rangers have told me that it means beyond your site--in other words, along the trails, roads, etc... They said that if it is at your table, at your chairs or campfire, it is not a problem to them. I have camped at GRSP probably 15 times--most with beer (or Crown) and have never had a problem--just use common sense and common courtesy.

Re: guadalupe river SP
I didn't literally mean you have to retreat to your tent or RV to drink, although that would be the surest way to ensure you're not "publicly consuming" your adult beverage.
Most of us have enough stuff on our picnic table when we're camping it'd be difficult to see if someone had a Bud or a Dr Pepper, anyway. Just use common sense and drink responsibly and you'll be fine. Texas open container laws apply within the parks, so don't pop one and carry it around in your vehicle if you go driving around.

Re: guadalupe river SP
Thanks
I have reservations for the Wagon Ford Walk in campsite for July 4th weekend. How far do you think I will be from the river? How's the tubing around those parts?

I'd say a couple of hundred yards depending on which site your in. People tube that section of the river a good bit. You start at the northern end of the park and then come down towards Wagon Ford. Really is a nice stretch. If you haven't seen it, this link should take you to a facilities map:

Hope you have a great time.
